The 2010 Hoobler Reunion is now over and time to plan for 2012.
A big thank you goes out to Jim and Marge Hoobler for hosting the event along with all who helped out big time.

The 2010 Jacob Hoobler, III, reunion is now history. Several states were represented as descendants traveled from far and near to share in a family reunion in Texas – the first one held here in 22 years. Although we do not have an exact headcount to report at this time, our best guess would be around 65.
Family members began arriving on Thursday, June 3rd, and continued to come in throughout Friday and Saturday under beautiful, sunny skies. As the weekend progressed, the temperatures climbed, but the guests did not complain. Someone was definitely smiling down on us, for promptly at 7:00 a.m. on Monday morning, a thunderstorm rolled in.
It was a wonderful three days as we came together for meals and lots of visiting, and even live entertainment at twilight. The Friday night BBQ was great, and Saturday night everyone enjoyed the fish, which was caught, furnished and prepared by H. L. Thomas, Jr. As a special treat Jim and crew prepared calf fries for everyone to try. Our daughter Janet had desserts for us each night; Saturday’s being homemade ice cream.
The tables in the reading area were set up with lots of photo albums and other materials that Lewis Hoobler brought to share. Gail Hoobler brought the new cookbook, which was in great demand upon the unveiling. (If you wish to purchase copies for $10.00 each, contact her at gail@hoobler.com.) Of course there were plenty of stories being swapped and memories from the past being told. But, the jury is still out on which one is "the other Jim Hoobler"! Saturday morning the majority of our guests enjoyed making the Highway 33 drive to the old home places and other sites. That afternoon many visited our local points of interest around town and participated in the Citadelle Art Foundation tour.
We want to thank each and every one who attended, and a very special thanks to those who worked right along beside us getting everything prepared and set up and served. Our houseguests (first cousins) Dan Powell and Emilie, and Max Hoobler and Sandi, and our kids and grandkids, James, Janet, Dillon and Megan worked tirelessly to help us accomplish our dream. Teamwork is the name of the game, and we had plenty of willing, helping hands.
Here’s to meeting everybody in Kansas in 2012.
