2010 Hoobler Reunion

2010 IS NOW HERE – HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Time to start planning the Hoobler Reunion in Canadian, Texas!

Please contact Jim Hoobler for your motel reservations. We all get a discount by going through him and it helps him figure out how much food is needed.

Friday, June 4th: In the afternoon we will have a "meet and greet" and an evening meal.

Saturday, June 5th: We will gather for breakfast, after which we will take a ride to the Hoobler home place near Canadian, and various stops such as Gem City. We will include requested stops in the tour before details are finalized. We plan to return to Canadian for a light lunch, followed by some free time for those who want to visit the cemetery and/or other places of interest. We will come together again for the evening meal and visiting.

Sunday, June 6th: We will host a breakfast for all who wish to attend before departing for home. At this time the planned portion of the reunion will conclude. We are not running you off - we have been advised that this is the customary arrangement.

Our home will be open to you at all times. And, as plans are finalized, we will have more details as to meeting times and places.

For accommodations we would suggest the following:

Hemphill County has a very nice RV park for those with motor homes or campers. They furnish water and electricity for $20/night. There is a waste dump near by. They will allow me to block off an area once I know how many spaces to reserve.

The Quiet Inn is a new hotel in Canadian. They gave me a rate of $77/night, which is one king bed for two people, or two beds for two people. The manager suggested that I reserve now to assure the rate does not change. We can cancel a room one week before the reservation date without a charge.

The Best Western Oasis Hotel is our newest facility. When I talked to the manager I had no idea how many rooms would be needed. For less than ten rooms, they would offer a king bed for two people at $90/night. Two beds, up to three people, $119/night. Once we know approximately how many rooms we need, the price will be reviewed. Here again, he suggested that I book now and there is not a cancellation fee if we give them notice of one week.

We would like to hear from you as soon as possible if you are planning to come to Canadian. Of course you are not "locked in" to your decision, but it will help us to make preliminary plans at this early date. We are excited for the opportunity to show you some Texas hospitality and get reacquainted with many of you whom we have not seen for some time.

Please do not hesitate to contact Marge or me with any questions or suggestions. We have time to revamp our plans to incorporate requests or changes. We want this to be a wonderful and memorable experience for all who attend. Your comfort and enjoyment are our primary goals.
